August BellaBox Beauty Subscription

A couple of months ago I stopped receiving my previous beauty subscription box and I've been missing my regular influx of sample beauty goodies ever since!

So now I'm on the hunt for a new beauty subscription box.

Thus when the opportunity arose to trial the August BellaBox I happily accepted.

For those of you who aren't aware how BellaBox works let me enlighten you.

BellaBox is a monthly beauty subscription box which contains five sample beauty products to try in the comfort of your own home. Each month's box has a different theme and this month the theme was "Complexion Perfection".

Each month will include a different mix of beauty products ranging from makeup, skincare, fragrance, body, hair products and sometimes even a lifestyle product. The samples are generously sized to ensure you can really test out the product and discover the products you love. Some products may be full size although this is not guaranteed.

If you love what you sampled you can then buy the product from the BellaBox online shop.

So let's proceed with the unboxing of the August BellaBox Complexion Perfection that I received.

BellaBox Complexion Perfection

BellaBoxes arrive beautifully packaged in a signature, sturdy blue dotted cardboard box.

I love gorgeous packaging and this is a fabulous and convenient box which I will definitely be reusing to store some beauty bits and pieces in.

This month's BellaBox contained five beauty products, two of which were full sized (yay!), all designed to help achieve a flawless complexion - who doesn't want that?! It also contained two bonus sample sachets plus an information card of its contents and a generous 40% off discount for Em Cosmetics products.

BellaBox Complexion Perfection Contents

BellaBox Complexion Perfection - Product Information Card

BellaBox Complexion Perfection 40% Off All EM Cosmetics

Em Cosmetics The Great Cover Up Ultimate Concealer
9ml RRP: $17.00 USD

"Create perfect skin with Em Cosmetics, Michelle Phan's amazing beauty brand, direct to you from the US! This lightweight, yet full coverage concealer is perfect for all skin types, and blends easily leaving a natural finish".

BellaBox Complexion Perfection -
Em Cosmetics The Great Cover Up Ultimate Concealer

This is the product I am most excited to see in this BellaBox as I was needing a new concealer and this one sounds absolutely perfect for my needs. This is the first product from the box that I will be using as I want to make use of the 40% off Em Cosmetics offer that came with this box if this product lives up to my expectations of it, which I suspect it will!

Avene Tolerance Extreme Cream
Deluxe sample size 5ml. Regular size 50ml RRP: $58.95

"Providing instant relief for hypersensitive and allergic skin, Avene Tolerance Extreme Cream delivers long-lasting protection along with hydration and nutrients to the skin. Ideal to keep your skin at its best in winter!"

I love Avene Thermal Water and thus I am excited to try another product from this company. Although I don't have hypersensitive or allergic skin it's good knowing this product will be kind to my skin. Being 40+ years old my skin craves hydration and nutrients!

BellaBox Complexion Perfection -
Avene Tolerance Extreme Cream &
Avene Tolerance Extreme Cleansing Lotion

Avene Tolerance Extreme Cleansing Lotion
Deluxe sample size 5ml. Regular size 50ml RRP: $58.95

"This lightweight, no-rinse facial cleanser protects the skin's natural barrier while soothing redness, tightness and itching. Apply morning and evening to face and neck and gently remove with a cotton pad. Perfect for sensitive skin".

This sounds like another lovely skincare product which will be gentle and kind to my skin. I love discovering new gentle yet effective cleansers!

JBronze Face Flawless Tan
30ml RRP: $24.95

"Get your glow on this August with JBronze's lightweight, non greasy Face Flawless Tan! Not only does it reveal a natural looking streak-free tan, but it also contains antioxidants to hydrate and nourish your skin".

I like the sound of this product containing antioxidants but being honest I'm not a fan of self tanning products. However my loss is my best friend's gain! She would absolutely love this product so I'll be making her day and passing it along to her to use.

BellaBox Complexion Perfection - JBronze Face Flawless Tan

NIVEA Creme Fairy Tales Edition
150ml RRP: $7.88

"Dry knees and elbows? Not anymore! Moisturise from top to toe with NIVEA's rich formula creme. Perfect for daily use all over the body to soothe, intensely moisturise and protect your skin. Suitable for all skin types".

How cute is this tin! I love cute packaging and this is the best! NIVEA is such an iconic and trusted brand. I love the inclusion of this NIVEA creme in this BellaBox. Once again it is a perfect product for my skin!

BellaBox Complexion Perfection - Nivea Creme Fairy Tales Edition

BONUS: Alpha Keri Body Slimfit Bust Lift and Firm Cream &
Alpha Keri Body Slimfit Heat-Activating Slimming and Firming Serum

I love that there are two bonus sachets included in this BellaBox. I haven't used anything similar to these products before so I'll be excited to try them out. I'm not sure however whether one application of a "bust lift and firm cream" or one application of a "slimming and firming serum" will give me a true indication of whether this product works effectively or not. Regardless I will enjoy using with these sachets.

BellaBox Complexion Perfection - Bonus
Alpha Keri Body Slimfit Bust and Firm Cream &
Alpha Keri Body Slimfit Heat-Activating Slimming and Firming Serum

Overall I've been impressed with my unboxing first impressions of this BellaBox. I love the mix of products and I think it shows excellent value for money. I also totally love the idea of receiving five new beauty products to try every month.

This is one of the best things about beauty subscription boxes, being able to try out new products that are unfamiliar to you and hopefully discovering new, useful beauty products to love and continue using!

If you are interested in subscribing to BellaBox the cost is $15 each month plus $2.95 for postage and handling which includes premium trackable postage. You can cancel your subscription at any time, there is no minimum sunscription period.

I've just seen a sneak peek of the September Box which is now available. Its theme is Kiss Me and every September BellaBox will include a Jelly Lipstick, which looks totally amazing!

Click HERE to subscribe to next month's BellaBox. Note that if this is your first experience with BellaBox you will get $5 off this first box! Yay!

Join bellabox today and get $5 off your first month!

Which above product appeals to you the most?

At last week's link up we had 23 lovely bloggers link up a beauty related post each. The three most viewed posts, plus my pick of the posts, included the following:

Popular Linked Posts From The
Monday Makeup Madness 69 Link Up

  • Kat continued with her very popular micellar water series of posts from Kats Colourings blog, reviewing another three different micellar waters. Her reviews have been interesting reading. The more expensive ones are not necessarily the best. This linked post is well worth a read if you're wanting to save money when buying effective micellar waters.
  • Fabulous and Fun Life's review and swatches of the new Rimmel London Moisture Renew Sheer & Shine lipsticks was also popular. Who doesn't love finding out about a new lipstick range, especially one as comfortable to wear as this one!
  • Laura's Ride or Die Tag post detailing her cosmetics holy grail products from The Life Of Laura blog was popular. I love discovering brilliant new products from reading other beauty bloggers favourites posts. I'm looking forward to her skincare edition of this post also.
  • My pick of the posts from last week was The Beauty and The Geek's U.S Shopping Haul post. I was in parts green with envy at her haul and in equal parts totally excited for Fel over her amazing new beauty goodies.
I'd love you to join this week's Monday Makeup Madness link up and if your post is one of the three most clicked upon I'll feature it in next week's link up post. I'll also pick one other linked post to feature. The rules of the link up are simple:

Discovering the QV Skincare Difference & GIVEAWAY

I'm sure I'm not the only one, who many years ago now, loved watching the talented Kate Ritchie play Sally Fletcher on the well loved Australian TV series Home and Away, one of my favourite shows at the time!

Well, Kate has since left Home and Away but has recently been named as the ambassador for a well loved Australian family owned skincare brand, QV, which is another favourite of mine!

As a result I was more then happy when the opportunity arose to review the latest QV body range of products, as loved and used by none other than Kate Ritchie.

I also have some exciting news!

QV have generously provided 5 gift packs of QV products valued at $80 each, yes that's $400 in total, for me to giveaway to 5 lucky Fabulous and Fun Life readers! So make sure you read through to the end of this post where you'll find the giveaway.

QV Body Range including QV Wash, QV Gentle Wash,
QV Intensive Moisturising Cleanser, QV Skin Lotion & QV Cream.

QV is a skincare brand that is specifically recommended to people with sensitive skin and conditions such as eczema, and as a result QV products are also a lot kinder to people with 'normal' skin too!

QV products are uncomplicated, containing no hidden and unnecessary nasties. QV products are perfume free, colour free, propylene glycol free, pH balanced, dermatologically tested and lanolin free.

QV products are formulated with glycerin at varying levels to optimally benefit different degrees of skin dryness. Glycerin is a humectant which draws water to the skin and holds it in the skin, providing and maintaining hydration.

QV products are developed to work in harmony with the skin and are suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin.

QV Wash
QV Wash is a lovely and mild soap-free cleanser. It is a thickish, milky coloured lotion and contains 10% glycerin.

I found it to be lightly foaming and it left my skin feeling clean, hydrated and soft to touch after my shower.

I love how QV Wash is effective yet gentle. It didn't strip away any of my skin's natural oils.

The recommended retail price for QV Wash 500ml is $18.15.

Click HERE to purchase QV Wash online from Priceline. Priceline prices are slightly cheaper than the RRP currently with it being:
  • $10.79 for 250ml
  • $16.49 for 500ml &
  • $19.99 for 1L.
QV Gentle Wash
I found the QV Gentle Wash to be very similar to the QV Wash. However, I don't have sensitive skin or any other skin conditions such as dermatitis or eczema etc so I'm less likely to experience the difference.

A couple of my friends do have children with eczema and they swear by this product saying it's the one product that doesn't irritate their children's skin whatsoever! Based on their experiences with this product I'm happy to recommend it to you if you do have sensitive skin or a skin condition requiring a specifically gentle body wash.

QV Gentle Wash contains 15% glycerin.

The recommended retail price for QV Gentle Wash 500ml is $18.15.

Click HERE to purchase QV skin lotion online from Priceline. Priceline prices are slightly cheaper than the RRP currently with it being:
  • $16.99 for 500ml &
  • $19.99 for 1L.

QV Wash & QV Gentle Wash

QV Intensive Moisturising Cleanser
QV Intensive Moisturising Cleanser is ideal for people with extremely dry and sensitive skin. It contains 60% glycerin.

I found it to also have a lightly foaming formulation. It leaves a hydrating film on your skin and left my skin feeling clean, hydrated and amazingly soft.

My legs usually feel quite dry after I shave them in the shower so lately QV Intensive Moisturising Cleanser has been my product of choice to apply as a cleanser in the shower after shaving them. I love that the process of hydrating and moisturising my skin can start in the shower.

The recommended retail price for QV Intensive Moisturising Cleanser is $23.45 for 500ml.

Click HERE to purchase QV Intensive Moisturising Cleanser online from Priceline. Priceline prices are slightly cheaper than the RRP currently with it being:
  • $14.49 for 250ml
  • $22.49 for 500ml &
  • $34.99 for 1kg.
QV Intensive Moisturising Cleanser

QV Skin Lotion
QV Skin Lotion contains 5% glycerin and is a white, luxuriously light moisturising lotion.

It is very easy to apply and is perfect for relieving and helping to prevent dry skin.

I love how non greasy this skin lotion is and how quickly my skin soaks it all in after my shower. There's no waiting required before getting dressed - Yay!

The recommended retail price for QV Skin Lotion is $11.20 for 250ml.

Click HERE to purchase QV skin lotion online from Priceline. Priceline prices are slightly cheaper than the RRP currently with it being:
  • $10.49 for 250ml
  • $16.79 for 500ml &
  • $19.99 for 1L.
As with many products it's a lot more economical to buy the largest size!

QV Skin Lotion & QV Cream
QV Cream
QV cream has a thicker consistency than the QV lotion and is more highly concentrated to moisturise drier skin.

This cream contains 10% glycerin and is perfect for replenishing the skin and helping to relieve dry areas.

I found it worked especially well on those notoriously dry areas of my body, namely my elbows, knees and hands.

Despite it's thicker consistency this cream still absorbed into my skin surprisingly quickly and left my skin feeling beautifully nourished and soft.

The recommended retail price for QV Cream is $8.15 for 100g.

Click HERE to purchase QV cream online from Priceline. Priceline prices are once again slightly cheaper currently with it being:
  • $7.99 for 100g &
  • $14.79 for 250g.
QV products are also available in pharmacies.

Four Popular Linked Posts From Last Week's
Monday Makeup Madness Link Up

  • Kat's linked post reviewing the NYX Ombre Blushes on Kat's Colourings blog was a popular post. Code Breaker looks like such a gorgeous blush although I'd probably be more inclined to try the other blush she blogged about, the Mauve Me blush, first as I do like a touch of shimmer.
  • Leah's review of the Indeed Labs Vitamin C24 on Temporary Princess was another popular post and is another product I'd love to try.
  • Nalini's informative review of the Clarisonic Mia 2 linked from The Made Up Maiden was also popular.
  • My pick this week was Candyfairy's blog post unboxing her limited edition bellabox Vogue. I have a different bellabox in transit to me and was interested to see what the contents of this bellabox was!
